Description

In this Art of Healing workshop led by Elizabeth Guillén on Thursday, Jan. 12 (@ 2:00pm), we will be lightly color staining a wooden heart and then creatively arranging wood flowers and greenery with hot glue for a fun and festive Valentine decoration. No art experience is needed, and all supplies are provided. Art of Healing is open to anyone (ages 16 & up) in need of reflective time, including caregivers, survivors, and those who have lost a loved one. The art outreach program is free, but requires participants to register in advance.

The same project will be taught at both Art of Healing workshops in January (1/12 & 1/26), so please only sign up for ONE of the dates. PLEASE NOTE: This is the registration form for the January 12th workshop. If you want to attend the Jan. 26th session, please click here or or call the museum at 386-676-3347.

About the Instructor:

Raised in Ormond by the Sea, Elizabeth Guillén has been a local beachside resident for over 35 years. She says, “the beach is my zen, my peace.” As a hairdresser for over 20 years and a boutique salon owner for over 13 years, she has built beautiful relationships with amazing clients while infusing her days with creativity and self-care. She enjoys practicing yoga and meditation, spending time with family and friends, and finding different creative outlets to explore with her 2 boys and future husband. While researching unique floral ideas for her upcoming wedding, she discovered the art of wooden flowers, inspiring her to grow artistically in new ways. Elizabeth says, “I’ve learned there’s more to a haircut or color than external appearance. I love to create shapes and dimension with color, but the true satisfaction and joy is seeing a client light up because they can see their inner beauty shine outwardly!" She has learned that many people have had to work through some difficult struggles and goals to let their light shine again. “Through The Art of Healing I’m honored for this opportunity to create beautiful pieces with beautiful people in unique and imaginative ways.”
