Stop by the Gazebo on Thursday, Feb. 2, for an encaustic aka "hot wax painting" live demonstration by Anne Kneller. Encaustic is a both a painterly and sculptural medium that uses a blend of hot beeswax and oil pigments. Anne will show how the paint is heated, applied, and manipulated using a variety of common tools with astonishing results. Expect to be dazzled by this intriguing process. This program is FREE, but registration is encouraged.

Anne will teach an upcoming encaustic painting series at OMAM (four classes beginning February 16) with openings for six students. Registration for that series is now open! Click HERE for more info.

Anne Kneller has enjoyed a lifelong art practice beginning with an early passion for tangibles like cloth, scissors, paint, paper (and spirograph!) In 2013, her creative pursuits led to a deep dive into encaustic painting after seeing examples of the medium at the Winter Park Art Show. This discovery led to years of continuing education under the tutelage of acclaimed encaustic practitioners, instructors, and authors in workshops nationwide. Exhibition and sales of her wax works and teaching opportunities followed. Anne's paintings have been included in gallery shows in Boston and Traverse City, Michigan and featured in various publications including Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine and other mixed media publications. Special recognition has included several best of show awards for her work. A Michigan native, Anne has divided her time between Massachusetts, Michigan and Florida in recent years and currently works in her private studio in Daytona Beach. She studied journalism in college and worked for many years as a graphic designer, gaining early exposure to Macintosh, Adobe and the internet. Her design work has earned various awards from the American Advertising Federation (ADFED).
