Description

In this eco art program, ages 9 to 12 will learn TWO techniques for making pigmented paints with plants from the OMAM garden and scraps of fruits and vegetables, such as cabbages, carrots, raspberries, and spinach. Participants will discover nature’s color wheel while painting in analogous colors. This immersive learning experience, which combines self-expression and sustainability, is led by OMAM’s Curator of Youth Programs Diamond Johnson. Adults do not need to be present with children during this one-hour class, and all supplies are included with tuition ($12 for Museum members; $15 future members). Seats are limited, so advanced registration is encouraged!

ABOUT THE SERIES

Planet Protectors is a new series at OMAM that meets monthly in the spring and fall with a mission to fuse art, recycling, and nature. Participants will learn about various topics, such as ocean pollution, biodegradable products, and the three R’s, before creating an artistic solution with recycled materials. We will partake in positive, collaborative conversations that explore how recycling, reusing, and reducing protects our environment and the planet.
