Description

Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 | 12:00 - 3:00pm

Explore color for your own personal expression and sharpen your drawing skills by developing colored pencil techniques, from basic to refined. You will learn various application strokes, grisaille, layering, value, intensity, temperature, texture, and refinement. Experiment with colored pencil applications on different surfaces, using a variety of paper samples provided by the instructor. Each participant will choose an object provided by the instructor to practice and combine techniques, drawing from still life to create a piece of art. The instructor will provide demonstrations, reference handouts, and individual guidance. This workshop is designed to introduce new skills to beginning students and refresh those who have drawn in colored pencil before.

During the workshop you will share in open dialogue and participate in an open critique. In addition, you’re invited to bring your colored pencil artwork that may need reworking or that is not yet pleasing to you. This is your chance to ask questions about drawing in color and colored pencil application. The objective of this class is to answer your questions about the colored pencil medium and to develop skills that will enable you to understand color and its application.
