About the Speaker

Growing up on a farm in New Jersey, Rebekah Mead has always been a plant-loving organic gardener. She raised and sold organic chicken products before entering an eclectic nursing career that began with caring for HIV patients in the 1980s, then neurotrauma, forensics, and lastly, environmental health and safety occupational health nurses. She published her first book, “What’s Eating You?” A Food Reference Manual in 2019. She is currently in an eclectic retirement, sharing her gardening experiences through local lectures, writing a monthly newsletter for the Seaside Herb Society of Ormond Beach, and gardening in her yard.

About the Seaside Herb Society

"Our mission is to gather in the spirit of friendship and cooperation, to learn more about herbs and to use this knowledge to educate and benefit others. We meet on the 3rd Saturday from September through May. Members take turns educating us about the featured monthly herb and providing culinary samplings. We also have workshops, field trips and guest speakers. We hold two annual events that help to fund our Society. At our November Plant Sale, you can stock up on winter herbs. At our Spring Herb Faire the Society and other vendors sell herb plants, soaps, seasonings and delicious home baked goods."
