ArtWave Youth Workshop: Wiley Inspired Self-Portrait

Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025 | 2:00-3:30pm

In this session of ArtWave, ages 11 to 14 are invited to join us in the OMAM Classroom to make their own Kehinde Wiley inspired self-portrait using mixed media on paper. Our artwork will reference Wiley's style, just like Wiley references the work of the Old Masters.

Our self portraits will stand out with the iconic patterned background similar to Wiley's portraits. We will talk about color and composition, in addition to contrasting background and foreground to achieve a dynamic finished product.

Tuition for this 90-minute program includes all supplies. Seats are limited, so signing up in advance is highly encouraged!

About the Instructor

Emma Dennison earned a master's degree in Critical Museum Studies from the University of Florida and a bachelor's in Studio Art from Stetson University. She grew up in a little town near Pittsburgh, but immediately fell in love with Ormond Beach after her family relocated to Florida a few years ago. Before joining the OMAM staff in May 2025, she completed a 240-hour internship here and also helped as an instructor during the museum's summer youth art camps.
