Get off your sofa and come join our S.O.F.A, because School’s Out For Art! On this Volusia County Schools student holiday, ages 5 to 12 will create story quilts and learn about American artist Faith Ringgold (1930-2024). Her narrative quilts often combine painted images with quilted fabric and handwritten text, drawing inspiration from her family’s storytelling traditions and her engagement with both African and Western art forms.
Tuition for this 90-minute youth program includes all supplies. Seats are limited, so signing up in advance is highly encouraged!
Registration will close when workshop is full.

About the Instructor

Emma Dennison earned a master's degree in Critical Museum Studies from the University of Florida and a bachelor's in Studio Art from Stetson University. She grew up in a little town near Pittsburgh, but immediately fell in love with Ormond Beach after her family relocated to Florida a few years ago. Before joining the OMAM staff in May 2025, she completed a 240-hour internship here and also helped as an instructor during the museum's summer youth art camps.
